Cole's first field trip ~ Stuckey Farms

Cole had his first field trip at preschool on Wednesday before Halloween (10/24).  His 4 year old class at CUMC went to Stuckey Farms.  They learned all about their apples and apple trees and why there were no apples this year, the early bloom and then frost killed the buds that would have been apples.  They also ground corn, they will use to make cornbread for the Thanksgiving feast at school later this month.  Then lastly they learned about honey bees.  I think their favorite part was riding the bus.  Chad went with him and I stayed behind since Miles could not ride the bus.  Fun morning for Cole and Daddy!

Cole is really loving preschool and his teachers, Mrs. Veatch and Mrs. Carson.  Such nice teachers and he has never once not wanted to go and shed a single tear.  This has not been our history with our first in home daycare or Heartland Hall. I think it makes a huge difference that it is just a few hours and fast paced of play and learning.  They are writing their names, working on shapes and colors (which they all seem to have mastered long before preschool) and writing their numbers...they have done 0-12 so far.  I new number every school day (MWF).  He has homework each day that we have to complete for the next school day so we have a few afternoons to get it done.  He started out not liking this and now it has turned into our time together and he has become more confident in his writing abilities.  The secret for him was just getting him to hold the pencil the right way that made it all more comfortable to write.  Watching him learn has been a lot of fun.  I was really nervous prior to preschool starting because he was not a fan of coloring or listening to me when we tried to work with him on some of these things.  Preschool has been great for him!!
