Miles is 1 Month Old Today...and Happy 37th Birthday to Daddy!

We have really enjoyed our new little guy this last month! It is crazy how time flies.  He is a great sleeper at night.  Since his first night home he only has woken up once at night.  This has been a life saver for a mom that needs her sleep.  We feed him before we go to bed around 10pm ish and then he sleep for a good 4-5 hours and really is still sleeping but grunting and fussing a little so I get him up and feed him and then he will go another 4-5 hours.  Cole never did this at this age.  He was up every 2-3 hours.  Chad and I would trade off with Cole and that worked well.  Now with Miles, I just do the feeding since I am nursing him and losing an hour or so is doable for my next day with both of them.  I try to get in a nap when they do in the afternoon.  He prefers being held to napping on his own but we work to get him to finally lay down in his little bassinet.  There is a sweet spot when he is drowsy that we can lay him down.  If we hold him too long and he gets into a deep sleep on us, the transition sometimes doesn't work.  At his 9 day appointment he was almost back to his birth weight so who knows how much he weighs now.  His sweet cheeks have really filled out and he is starting to look more like an infant vs a newborn.  We did move from NB diapers to 1's just a few days ago, so those only stayed on for the first month.  We go in a few weeks for his next appointment and I will update then on his weight.

We were finally able to move from the sponge bath to the actual bath at about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks.  When his umbilical cord had fallen off and all the dried blood was gone.  He is not much different than his big brother was at this age...he hates being cold and cries through bath off and on.  We have tried making the water warmer, he lays on a mat that absorbs the warm water.  We are just hoping as the weeks go on he likes it better.  We are definitely a lot faster than we were at bathing Cole.  So we'll see.

Miles had his first bottle on Friday, February 24th @ 3 weeks old.  I just pumped about an oz. to see if/how well he would take a bottle.  He drank it in like 2 minutes.  So needless to say we should have stopped him and burped him because he was pretty fussy for about the next 5 hours.  So the next time we gave him a 3 oz. bottle @ 4 weeks old and burped him about every 1/2 oz.  He was not happy about this but his tummy was just fine this time around.  So we will just keep giving him the occasional bottle once or twice a week to make sure when needed he will take a bottle.  He is a great eater and has done awesome nursing so we are hoping he will continue to be a good transitioner.

We are all adjusting to our new life of a family and 4 quite well!  Cole loves him to death and talks to sweet to him and helps me all day long.  I love how much he loves his little brother. We have been laying low with it being cold and flu season.  Though, the weather has been so nice that one day when Miles was sleeping for a few hours, Cole and I had a picnic outside for lunch in the sunshine.

I am really enjoying being home with these 2 little guys!  I feel so thankful for this opportunity and try to stay in this frame of mind even when they are both wanting or needing something at the exact same time and Cole is talking me into craziness.  I love these boys!!

We also celebrated Daddy's 37th Birthday yesterday with some awesome cupcakes from HolyCow Cupcakes.  All Chad wanted was to watch the Duke game for his birthday!  He watched the game, but too bad they lost! :(
